All Over Dye Sublimation

If you’re looking to get an all over print done to your garment, then you need to start looking at companies that can provide all over dye sublimation services. No quite sure what sublimation? Unlike the typical screen printing, sublimation is a way to get the ink into the fabric instead of lying on top of it. The term sublimation comes from science. It’s a chemical reaction that causes a gas to be turned into a solid without ever reaching a liquid state. This technique allows us to print the exact size of the shirt instead being reined in by dimensions because of screen printing. With screen printing, we have certain sizes that we need to stick because of the size of the screens.

So how does this relate to printing t-shirts you ask? It’s quite simple actually. Dye sublimation printing is a full color, full-coverage printing technique. We use a printer that has special ink. The ink is made up of super tiny particles that are printed onto transfer paper. Once we have the transfer paper properly sized then we turn to the sublimation machine. It’s essentially a giant heat press. When the paper is placed on the shirt, it is then pressed against the shirt using heat and time. The heat makes the tiny particles sublimate and bleed into the shirt. In order to receive a long lasting product, we must use one hundred percent polyester fabrics. It’s the only fabric that has a big enough pore structure to capture the ink colors permanently. Unlike screen printing, the dye is absorbed by the fabric for a fantastic, soft-to-the-hand touch. Screen printing lays on top of the fabric and you can feel the finished product when you rub your hands across it.
