Oversize Screen Printing
One of the most talked about and non-standard terms in the contract screen printing industry is the term Oversize Screen Printing.
Unlike other industries where a governing body has the final say over definitions and meanings of terms or a group of industry leaders gathers together to agree on a common definition of a term, the screen printing industry has loose definitions.
As a result, Oversize Screen Printing is often referred to as a print area that is 18″ wide and 21″ tall.
The reason for this definition being linked to these dimensions are because that surface area is roughly enough to cover the front of medium / large t-shirts.
Oversize Screen Printing
AMBRO Manufacturing is a contract screen printing company based in New Jersey that specializes in Oversize Screen Printing. We reject the idea that 18” x 21” is Oversize Screen Printing. The reason why we reject this is because our “smallest” large print starts at 40” x 40” and goes up from there.
If we’re going to print “all over” a T-Shirt we’re going to print ALL OVER it. Meaning, the neck, sleeves, front and back etc.
Also, there is a lot more to Oversize Screen Printing than just T-Shirts. Since most contract screen printers are focused on T-Shirts, it’s understandable why the definition of Oversize Screen Printing has been linked to and limited by just garments. There are so many other items that require screen printing that most screen printers don’t focus on that they get lost in the shuffle.
As some minor examples, equipment covers, trade show table cloths and runners, banners, flags and fabric panels to name just a few. All of these items and many more items like them, require Oversize Screen Printing .
