Puff Print Screen Printing

On of the most popular types of print is puff print.  Customers love it because it gives a 3D rise to the design element that is applied to. Puff print “bakes” up like a cupcake and makes the design look amazing. What’s even better than puff screen printing is oversized puff print screen printing. When we bring the design up to an all over t-shirt print, the element becomes 30″ x 30″ and is puffed!

One of the common misconceptions of puff printing is that you can blend elements together. Unfortunately, due to the “muffin top” aspect of puff printing, you can’t have more than 1 element within an inch of another. The puffing aspect is unpredictable and can “puff into” another element.

We recommend that customers that are designing for an oversized puff print screen printing project, use the 1″ rule.  Keep any element that you want puffed, away from any other element, by a minimum of 1″. Tight registration with puff printing, is not possible.

When ink colors are mixed with PMS specific formulas, the puff aspect of the print can modify the color slightly. It’s not possible to do a spot on color match with puff printing, because the process of puff, introduces air to the ink and that will give it a lighter hue.

Puff screen printing can be applied to the front, back and sleeves of any garment. We’ve also applied a puff screen print to the legs of flannel and sweat pants.
