Full Shirt Screen Printing
Sometimes we see things in our lives that appear to be simple in concept, but in practice it is a whole different story. Full shirt screen printing is an example of this occurrence. If you can print a logo on the full chest of my garments, then why can’t we just go bigger? Well, the answer to this question is deeper than just increasing the size!
To better understand why, it would be helpful to understand the process of screen printing. Silk mesh screens are covered with a leak-proof emulsion that prevents ink from passing through. An artist takes a digital design and separates the image into layers based on the same color. Using exposure equipment and films with the artwork, the layers are etched into the screens; one color layer per screen. The screens are mounted on a press and one by one, each screen is laid onto the fabric and a squeegee drags colored ink across the mesh. The mesh only allows the etched areas to be printed with that color and after each layer is applied, a completed design is formed.

For full shirt screen printing, it is more than just the artwork that needs to be bigger. All over coverage means bigger screens, bigger exposure equipment, and bigger mounting apparatuses for the enlarged screens. This means a printing company must be specifically prepared to handle oversized printing jobs like full shirt prints. Luckily, here at AMBRO Manufacturing, we are equipped to do jumbo printing!
