Big Screen Printing

Top quality, big screen printing is a high demand service, but you may be shocked to find out that not many printing companies out there are capable of filling that need. You see, screen printing is a method of custom garment decoration that uses silk screens with images on them to print artwork onto clothing. The artwork gets separated into layers of color and each layer gets “burned” into a waterproof emulsion that coats the surface of the screen. The areas that are burned away will expose the holes in the silk screen which will allow ink to pass through. Now that’s all pretty standard, but what happens when you switch to large format screen printing?

Big Screen Printing

Large format screen printing means bigger artwork; artwork that will exceed the size of a standard silk screen frame. So if you want big screen printing you just need a bigger screen, right? Wrong! In order to burn the images into the larger screen, you will need larger exposure equipment to accommodate the enlarged screens. Then, when you’ve gotten that equipment, you need to have printing presses that can handle the big screens. So you can see how big screen printing is a whole different setup than standard screen printing and some companies just can’t handle.
