Dye Sublimation Printing

Every once in a while there are technological advancements that blow the lid off of the previous boundaries.  For example, dye sublimation printing has opened up a whole world of possibilities for custom garment printing.  You can look at a dye sublimated garment and still barely believe your own eyes!  Dye sublimation printing allows you to print high definition images with innumerable colors and perfect clarity.  It is a type of digital printing that you simply must try out for yourself!

So enough beating around the bush; let’s start talking about the process and how it is capable of so much.  The very first step towards dye sublimation printing is with the high resolution artwork.  Since this process is so accurate, everything you see in your digital art file will make it onto the garment.  Next the artwork gets printed out of a sublimation printer onto a heat transfer sheet using special dyes.  The transfer sheet containing the artwork is then placed onto the fabric to be printed and together they go into a sublimation press for a brief period.

The key to sublimation is what happens in the heat press.  The dyes on the sheet are formulated to sublimate under high temperatures, which means to go from a solid to a gas, and the pressure forces the dye to bind with the fibers.  This dye only binds with the fabric, so it doesn’t block the air holes in the garment leaving the print ultra soft, breathable, and lightweight.  Dye sublimation printing is extremely durable as the dye essentially becomes a part of the garment, so you won’t see cracking or peeling.  If you are interested in custom dye sublimation printing, you can come to AMBRO Manufacturing to have it done.  You can contact us to place an order, or to find out more about us, by email or by calling us at (908) 806-8337.
