A standard bandana is 22″ x 22″, made from cotton and traditionally available in many colors. An oversized bandana measures 27″ x 27″ and is only offered in 3 colors.
When speaking with customers regarding oversized bandanas, the discussion typically takes one of two paths. Let’s review them.
Path #1 involves the print size. A standard 22″ x 22″ bandana will have a 20″ x 20″ print, giving the 1″ blank border that you are use to seeing. But as a specialty offering, we do print “full bleed” bandanas where the design runs off the edge. It is this process of all over printing on a bandana that is usually what we discuss.
Path #2 involves the bandana itself. As noted above, a standard bandana is 22″ x 22″, but a jumbo bandana is 27″ x 27″. The standard print on a 27″ x 27″ bandana is 25″ x 25″ which leaves that nice 1″ blank border. However, since we’re oversized printers, we can also print a full bleed on the oversized bandanas too!
Before ordering a 27″ x 27″ bandana, we recommend that you measure a box 27″ x 27″ on the floor and tape it out using masking tape. It’s huge. Then do the same for a 22″ x 22″ bandana. Most of the time, our customers want the 22″ x 22″ bandana, and here is why …
Think back and remember your Pythagorean Theorem (a2+b2=c2). A 22″ x 22″ bandana measures 31″ on the diagonal when folded into a triangle. That’s pretty big and fits most heads and dogs. That’s why the 22″ is the most popular and comes in the most color choices. However, we’ve got you covered in White, Black and Natural if you absolutely need the 27″.
